When I was much younger, I used to picture my youth as something bright and adventurous — full of excitement, opportunities, and of course, money to spice it all up (plenty of it, if I’m being honest). I read hard, worked hard, thinking one day my reward would be a good job that pays in dollars — enough to take care of my needs, spoil myself a little, and still save something for the rainy days. After all, as we dey always talk, nobody know tomorrow.
But as I grew older, reality started to unfold. The same country I dreamed would lift me up began to struggle to even stand on her own feet. The economy was shaking, jobs were scarce, and survival became more than just a word — it became a daily hustle.
That was when I realized say book no be the only key to success. I started learning vocational skills — little by little — from fashion design to small-scale digital work. I told myself, “If the world dey revolve, I must revolve with am.” The journey wasn’t easy, but it taught me that true strength lies in adaptability. You gats learn, unlearn, and relearn if you wan survive for this ever-changing world.
Now, I’m not just surviving — I’m evolving. Nigeria might still be finding her balance, but I’ve found mine in creativity, resilience, and hope. Because no matter how tough it gets, we go still dey push.
